St Maurice’s Covert is a small but historically rich passageway between the High Street and the Cathedral in Winchester which originally served as a gateway to the city’s cathedral precinct and has since become underused and unloved.
We have been engaging with the people of Winchester over an 18 month period through a series of drop-in sessions, workshops and spatial experiments that have included hosting pop-up coffee shops and events on site. This has enabled us to fully understand their aspirations for this forgotten space and to ensure that the tight budget is used most effectively.
We have completed the technical design package and work is due to start on site in late 2019 to deliver this historic placemaking project.
