Moscow Urban Realm
+ Project Description
Three hours outside Moscow, a new residential village had been constructed with little consideration for the urban realm which would dramatically affect how people would use, enjoy and move about the locality. In 2016 we won an invited international competition to address this issue.
Our proposals created a series of public routes for walking, jogging and cycling, using hard landscaping to signify the different arteries. These routes linked a series of spaces for playing, taking part in sports or just sitting. The choice of surface therefore encouraged people to move through a space or pause. The proposals enabled the residences to be knitted into a community complete with shops, cafes and public transport.
